About the Vet

Since 2022 is a Council Member of the British Veterinary Zoological Society (Student Liaison Officer) and lecturer in Animal Management (Animal health and diseases) and Supervison on Veterinary Nurse L6 course at Plumpton College (Lewes, UK)

Prior to settling down in the UK, he worked in Italy. Graduating from the University of Perugia with an experimental thesis entitled "Cryptosporidiosis in reptiles", he immediately started working with unconventional animals. After a brief internship in the United States at the Tufts University Veterinary Hospital in Boston, he attended some of the leading Italian veterinary clinics that deal with the care of exotic animals.

He has worked in various practices as a consultant for non-conventional animals: Gregorio VII Veterinary Center (Rome), Zoospedale Flaminio Veterinary Clinic (Rome), Santa Lucia Veterinary Clinic (Perugia), Tyrus Veterinaria (Terni). As well as taking placements at UGA Small Animal Veterinary Hospital (Athens), and Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort - Maisons Alfort (Paris).

In 2016 he was in charge of the Exotic Animals department of the Didactic Hospital of the Veterinary Medicine Department of the University of Perugia.

 

 

He actively collaborates with the Department of Veterinary Medicine of Perugia by participating in the drafting of scientific papers, as a co-supervisor in some degree theses, always in the field of exotic animals; organized some seminars entitled "The exotic animal as a pet: new perspectives in Veterinary Medicine" (2009), "Medicine of small mammals" (2011), "New clinical-pathological approaches to the most common diseases of fish, birds and reptiles "(2012), "Avian medicine"(2013), "Wildlife: first aid" (2015).

 

He is the author of several articles published in some popular magazines. He completed the 2009-2011 SIVAE Educational Itinerary. In 2012 he assisted prof. J. Mayer and prof. S. Divers in the clinical-surgical activity at the Exotic Animals and Wildlife Department of the Veterinary Hospital of the UGA, Athens (GA - USA). In 2013 he attended the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Maisons-Alfort of the University of Paris

 

 

He accredited FNOVI for "Medicine and Surgery of Small Mammals" and "Medicine and Surgery of Reptiles and Amphibians".

 

Member of AEMV (Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians), BVZS (British Veterinary Zoological Society), SIVAE (Societa Italiana Veterinari Animali Esotici), ABWAK, Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF).

Currently a sole charge, exclusive Exotic vet (GPCert (ExAP), PGCert (EAS), GPAdvCertSMP, PgCert(HE), FHEA, VetGDP Adviser, RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine (CertAVP(ZM)), based out of a busy 24hr Veterinary hospital in the South East of England (West Sussex). 

Seeing a mix of 1st opinion consults, some referral cases and some 2nd opinion consults. Approximately 50% small mammals, 20% reptiles, 20% avian, and 10% zoo animals.

Has strong interests and experience in surgery, dentistry and diagnostic imaging (ultrasound, radiography).
